The CFA Society Nigeria Portfolio Management Challenge (PMC) is a structured, scenario-based portfolio management programme designed to help students learn how professional portfolio managers make investment decisions. Participants manage simulated portfolios using live NGX market data, develop investment strategies aligned to investor objectives, and gain practical experience in portfolio construction, risk management, and ethical investing.

About the Portfolio Management Challenge

The CFA Society Nigeria Portfolio Management Challenge is a national student investment programme designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world portfolio management.

This is not a trading competition.

PMC is built around Investment Policy Statements (IPS), the same framework used by professional portfolio managers to guide investment decisions. Participants are evaluated not only on performance, but also on how effectively they construct portfolios, manage risk, apply investment discipline, and demonstrate ethical judgment.

Team Track (Premier Track)

Designed for CFA Society Nigeria-affiliated investment clubs and university teams.

• 10 students per team
• Investment clubs may register up to two teams
• Universities without an endorsed investment club may register one team
• Collaborative portfolio management
• Eligible for prizes and national recognition

Individual Track

Designed for students participating independently.

• Open to all undergraduate students
• Lower barrier to entry
